I’ve seen so much mis-information spewed about the Cordoba Cultural Center, which is supposed to be built two blocks from Ground Zero. While I am a proponent of freedom of religion and also realize you cannot blame an entire religion for the act of radical extremists, I also feel it is important to get accurate information out about this mosque.

First, the mosque will be inside the Cordoba Cultural Center. It is not just a mosque, but is plans for a Cultural Center that will welcome people of all faiths.

The Cordoba Cultural Center plans to feature a prayer area that will accommodate up to 2,000 people, but also will feature a 500-seat auditorium, a theater, a performing arts center, a fitness center, a swimming pool, a childcare center, a basketball court, a bookstore, a culinary arts school, an art studio, a food court, and a memorial in honor of September 11.

Cordoba Cultural Center is set to be built 2 blocks (.22 miles) from Ground Zero.

It will not be able to be seen from the WTC location. Visitors to the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero will not be able to view the Cultural Center from Ground Zero.

There is already a mosque .35 miles from Ground Zero. Masjid Manhattan is just five blocks from Ground Zero. The Masjid Manhattan organization condones terrorist attacks by Muslims, especially the September 11 attacks.

Two mosques were already close to the WTC prior to the attacks.

Honestly, this is just an issue of semantics and people making a big deal out of nothing.
