We are now in Season 6 of Marvel Rivals! I’ve been playing since I think season 2 and I am hooked!
One thing about me – I am a hugely competitive person. Being unable to compete at most things, especially things that are physical, has made me sad. I want to compete in that way, but I just can’t because of my disability.
For years, I’ve tried to be good enough at video games to play PVP. Fortnite started the craze for me and as I figured out how to play against people I’ve gotten better and better. Now I want to compete.
Luckily, I have joined a free Marvel class and I’m working with a group of trans streamers to get better.
Since I’ve had a few seasons to learn how to play, I’ve not only gotten two Lords, and I’m about to get another. The two I have are Cloak & Dagger and Namor. I am a level away from Lord Jeff! I’m also cruising towards another Lord, who might just become my main character.
If you read my website regularly, you would know I wrote a post shortly after starting to play, about the most accessible characters to me. Now I’m going to write about who is really most accessible now that I know the characters.
Cloak & Dagger

I initially thought CND were going to be my main, but I think in new main has emerged since then. I have total love for Tandy and Ty, I just am doing phenomenal at a different character. That being said, Cloak and Dagger remain one of the most accessible characters for me to play. They have an incredibly reliable kit. I know how to play them and I know how to escape or do one-on-one if I need to. If we need a healer and I’m unsure if we are going to win I will switch to Cloak & Dagger.
Deadpool

Deadpool is the newest addition to Marvel Rivals and I enjoy him. His kit is goofy and I am just starting to learn it, but knowing how to use his individual moves has made him much more accessible to me than I thought. I rarely get to play the ridiculous fun characters, so I was really excited to learn I could play him. If you want to start practicing with him, go into 18 vs 18. There is nothing like trying to figure out Deadpool with total chaos happening around you. I have games where I can’t get more than a kill or more and others were I’m getting double digits easily. While I know Deadpool will probably not be my main character I think he will become a character I can switch to if I need to.
I want to note that I only know how to play Deadpool as a strategist. I don’t know if I’ll be able to play him as DPS or tank. If you need to keep being healed, as Deadpool, I’m your man!
Emma Frost

Emma is the first tank I have ever tried to play and I love her. For a while, I had her kit down okay, but I stopped playing her for a little while and forgot everything. For now, I’m pretty good with her main weapon and shield, but I need to get better at hand-to-hand combat. I struggle to connect with other players. That being said, with a good team, I can really rock things as Emma. She is my closest tank to a Lord. My goal is to get more consistent with Emma. The thing is, I don’t really play tank that often. Emma is really just the tank I need to have on hand in case we need an extra tank but I don’t see her being a main character beyond that.
Gambit

Gambit is another new character. The problem with him is he is high-energy. So, while I love to play him, he’s probably one of the least accessible on this list except for Invisible Woman. It’s not that his kit is hard to understand. I really love his hearts and spades decks and I love how you can quickly heal and also remove effects depending on the card you use. My problem is that I can’t always do the button mashing required, especially when I’m having a bad day. But if I can do it on my better days he is one of the best strategists to play. So, I would say his accessibility is close to good, but a little bit more towards medium for me based on my own personal skills. I’m hoping the more I play the easier he will become.
Hela

Hela is the newest addition to the characters I play. I have a bunch of other characters I am learning before her, but she’s a good solid DPS. The one thing I need to improve on is I often fly into the enemy as opposed to flying away to escape. If I can learn to escape, I believe Hela is going to be a really solid addition to my list of Lords and regular characters I play. I feel her kit is similar to Phoenix but I seem to get a bit more kills with Hela. I also have had really good experiences using her ULT. While I doubt she’ll be my main character, I feel like learning her more will make her a good choice if my main DPS is unavailable.
Invisible Woman

Invisible Woman is the character I want to play more than any other. I question how accessible she is to me, though. I can only play a couple games as her because she takes a lot of button mashing. She is a lot of energy for me. I want to find ways to conserve my energy as much as possible and I have not given up on learning her. I just think her learning curve is going to be a little steeper for me. I understand Sue’s kit pretty well but I panic and often forget what I’m doing when I am playing as her. With more practice, I believe I can make her more accessible, but I will let you know when I give another update in the future.
Jeffrey

Jeff is the cutest and I have been dreaming of playing him regularly. Other than CND, Jeff is my very best strategist. I have that chaotic Jeff energy and have accidentally gotten rid of my teammates way too many times for comfort. But I’m adorable and I usually come through in the end! Right now, Jeff is moments away from becoming my latest Lord. If you’re going to play any character in 18 vs 18 I recommend Jeff because you can really toggle up wins as him. I really understand Jeff and I think if I have to pick any healer, I want him to be my first choice. This season I have gotten top 5 in 18 vs 18 and MVP as Jeff!
Namor

Namor is the latest character that I made a Lord. I immediately made him Lord and have barely played him since. That is because I have other characters I’m doing much better as. I am a solid Namor. In my previous writing, I discussed all the ways he was accessible to me and how his kit is easy for me. When I am struggling energywise this is the character I pick because I can use his monstro spawn to kill for me! He is the character I will choose as my second DPS choice. A solid character, I find Namor incredibly accessible.
Peni Parker

I really need to play more Peni. She the easiest tank kit for me to figure out and use. I started playing Peni when we desperately needed a tank and I was able to figure her out enough to hold a very volatile point on a convoy map. Ever since then I have wanted to learn her more. The only thing keeping me from playing her regularly is time. I am working on Lords for other characters so she is not my priority yet. That being said, I know she is truly accessible enough for me to play, so it’s only a matter of time before she is added to my roster!
Rocket Raccoon

So, like Peni, I have played Rocket enough to know he’s accessible to me, but only on certain maps. I like him for convoys especially, but I feel like he’s going to become situational. I just need to spend more time practicing him. Unfortunately for Rocket, my current priority is learning Jeff and after that I’m hoping to turn towards Gambit, but Rocket is solidly on the list of healers I need to learn how to play because they are ultimately accessible to me. The one concern I have with Rocket is his mobility. I struggle to get him on walls. But maybe if I spend some time in the practice range practicing movement I can get better at that?
Scarlet Witch

This is her. Scarlet Witch is my main character and the most accessible character for me. I had played her briefly, but something made me try her again, and I have been dominating as her. Multiple MVP. Multiple SVP. I’m doing plays with her that I am not ashamed to upload anymore! I canceled a Punisher’s ULT recently and it was glorious! She is the character I consistently place in the top with. I have gotten four in a row and five in a row with her. All of my friends are very impressed with my gameplay as Scarlet Witch, and I believe she is going to carry me competitive.
Squirrel Girl

Squirrel Girl is super accessible to me. I just don’t play her. I have had games with 50+ knockouts with SG, but on my quest to learn other characters she has definitely fallen by the wayside. Squirrel Girl gets a bad rap, but you definitely have to know how to play her. A lot of the people complaining about her think she is easy to play, but you don’t see them playing her, do you? Again this is a matter of having time to play her. I only really pull her out if I need another character because my mains have been taken, but she is a solid choice for an extra DPS character.
The Punisher

The Punisher was the first character I ever learned. He was the first character I got MVP on. I love The Punisher but I always play with people that are better at him than me. I use his character as a reserve for when I need another DPS, or if I need to switch in game because they are targeting my other DPS characters. I find The Punisher to be a solid character, who is easy for me to play accessibility wise. Having guns that fire a lot of bullets is always more accessible than melee based characters or characters that fight with their fists.
Overall, Marvel Rivals is the most accessible game I play currently. I can play many different characters, and I’m doing okay job with most of them. With a few of them I do exceptionally well, especially Scarlet Witch.
I have been having a blast learning to play this game and all the characters in it. I can’t wait to update you further as I learn more and more characters and continue to get better competitively.
